Defense Education Activity taps ACS for IT services support

Affiliated Computer Services Inc. has signed a one-year, $3.2 million contract with the Department of Defense Education Activity to provide local area network and desktop support services to the activity's facilities in four locations, the company announced Dec. 24.

Affiliated Computer Services Inc. has signed a one-year, $3.2 million contract with the Department of Defense Education Activity to provide local area network and desktop support services to the activity's facilities in four locations, the company announced Dec. 24.

Under the contract, which includes one option year, Dallas-based ACS will support operations in Virginia, Georgia, Puerto Rico and Cuba by providing desktop services, file server administration, Web and help desk services.

At the activity's offices in Arlington, Va., ACS will provide network management and administration, client/server support, application support and problem resolution, data communications support, systems installation and maintenance and Web technology support.

The company also will provide similar support to the Defense Domestic Dependent Elementary and Secondary Schools headquarters in Peach Tree City, Ga., and to schools at Warner Robins Air Force Base, Ga.; Fort Buchanan, Puerto Rico; and Guantanamo Bay Naval Air Station, Cuba.

The contract extends ACS' relationship with the Education Activity to five years.

ACS is a provider of information technology and business process outsourcing services to commercial and government clients. The company has more than 40,000 employees and $3 billion in annual revenue.
