The New Jersey Treasury Department wants to build a lottery communications network for the New Jersey Lottery Division. The network will help provide point-of-sale materials as well as advice on marketing techniques, recommend businesses for licensure as retailers and other duties directed by the Lottery Commission. A request for proposals is expected in October.The Georgia Department of Corrections wants to develop electronic medical record, point-of-care and other clinical information systems. The medical record system will offer an integrated view of patient data, provide for clinical data entry and allow for integrated communications support. The clinical information system will incorporate scheduling that will connect with existing systems. The proposed system will provide data management and access to knowledge resources, automate clinical workflow, improve quality of care and ensure that the standard of care is delivered efficiently. The system also will help ensure that care meets requirements of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act. Responses to a request for information are due Nov. 22. An RFP is expected in January.

The new system will include financial and accounting functions as well as use the Internet and other emerging technologies to offer access to information to employees, citizens and businesses. The RFP is expected in November.
Improving communicationsThe Massachusetts Highway Department plans to expand the state's integrated communications network as part of its statewide intelligent transportation system. The network is used by agencies involved in public safety. The expansion will offer common communications and information resources to those agencies. The RFP is expected by the end of the year.
