SAIC and Mitsubishi form IT security firm

Infosec Corp, the new company, will provide government and commercial customers in Japan with information security services for IT infrastructures.

Science Applications International Corp. of San Diego announced April 22 that it joined Mitsubishi Corp. of Tokyo to establish Infosec Corp. The new company will provide government and commercial customers in Japan with comprehensive information security services for existing or new information technology infrastructures.

SAIC's Secure Business Solutions Group and Mitsubishi Corp. will partner with additional companies to provide services. Their partners include Predictive Systems Inc. of New York, Riptech Inc. of Alexandria, Va., and Little eArth Corp. of Tokyo.

"Infosec Corp. is one of the first companies in Japan to provide the full spectrum of information security services," said J. Robert Beyster, SAIC president and chief executive officer.

Services provided will include security consulting and assessments, security implementation, education and training, managed security services, outsourced security services and security operations. The group will also establish information security analysis centers and security operations centers.

In Japan, SAIC will build upon its experience with securing sensitive systems for the U.S. government and commercial clients, Beyster said.

"Together with the other Infosec strategic partners, we have the skills and experience to help the Japanese market assess and upgrade its information security infrastructure," he said.

Mitsubishi Corp., a trading company, has seven business groups: New Business Initiatives, IT & Electronics, Energy, Metals, Machinery, Chemicals and Living Essentials. They work closely with clients to develop new business opportunities, such as project coordination, sourcing of raw materials, capital investments and development of sales channels.

SAIC is the largest employee-owned research and engineering company in the United States. It provides information technology, systems integration and e-business products and services to commercial and government customers.
