SAIC wins security alert work

Science Applications International Corp., San Diego, won a task order from the General Services Administration to offer a Web-based service for agencies to keep their information systems current with the latest security software patches.

The task order under the Safeguard contract supports the Federal Computer Incident Response Center. SAIC did not disclose the value of the contract.

Agencies will be able to receive notifications of pending software patches that correct known vulnerabilities. When the vendors make the patches available, SAIC will test them to ensure they correct the intended vulnerabilities.
