CSC lands $25 million NASA contract

Computer Sciences Corp. announced March 6 it has been awarded a two-year, $25 million contract to provide a broad range of information technology services to NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory.

Under the contract, CSC of El Segundo, Calif., will provide IT infrastructure services to support JPL's computing, operational and communications needs at the primary JPL facility in Pasadena, Calif., and elsewhere. Support areas include network operations, enterprise system development and operations, telecommunications, hardware maintenance and system administration.

The Jet Propulsion Lab, managed by the California Institute of Technology, is NASA's lead center for robotic exploration of the solar system. Its spacecraft have visited all the planets except Pluto, and JPL telescopes are observing distant galaxies in the universe to study how the solar system was formed. JPL also manages the worldwide Deep Space Network.

Teaming with CSC are QSS Group Inc., Lanham, Md., providing support in enterprise information systems; ERC Inc., Huntsville, Ala., for system administration support; and SaiTech Inc., also of Huntsville, providing telecommunications support.

"CSC's first NASA contract was with JPL in 1961," said Dave Ziobro, vice president of NASA programs in CSC's Civil Group. "We are honored to be a major partner in helping JPL meet its mission needs and continue to pioneer exploration of our solar system."
