Connecticut's Regan Elected NASCIO President

Connecticut Chief Information Officer Rock Regan has been elected president of the National Association of State Chief Information Officers.

Connecticut Chief Information Officer Rock Regan has been elected president of the National Association of State Chief Information Officers for the 2001-02 term, the organization announced Oct. 11.

Regan said one of his first priorities will be to oversee a forum on security and critical infrastructure protection that is scheduled for November.

Other NASCIO initiatives for the upcoming year include publication of a compendium on digital government and federal privacy laws; the unveiling of an enterprise architecture tool kit; and issuance of briefs on resource funding pools, return on investment and privacy of Social Security numbers, Regan said.

Other officers for the new term are:

*Gerry Wethington, Missouri CIO, who will serve as vice president;

*Wendy Rayner, New Jersey CIO, who will serve as secretary and treasurer;

*Aldona Valicente, who will serve as past president.

The election was conducted electronically after the NASCIO annual conference was canceled as a result of the Sept. 11 attacks.

NASCIO of Lexington, Ky., is an organization representing CIOs of the 50 states, six U.S. territories and the District of Columbia. Members include cabinet- and senior-level state officials responsible for information resource management. Other IT officials participate as associate members, and private-sector representatives may become corporate members.
