Venture Lands Lucrative Deal

A joint venture between Raytheon Co. of Lexington, Mass., and EG&G Technical Services Inc. of Gaithersburg, Md., won the Air Force's Joint Range Technical Services contract, potentially worth $1.7 billion over 15 years.

A joint venture between Raytheon Co. of Lexington, Mass., and EG&G Technical Services Inc. of Gaithersburg, Md., won the Air Force's Joint Range Technical Services contract, potentially worth $1.7 billion over 15 years.

The joint venture company, JT3 LLC of Henderson, Nev., will provide operations and maintenance, engineering and technical services for threats, instrumentation, communications and data systems. The joint venture will run operations at the Nevada Test and Training Range, the Utah Test and Training Range, the Air Force Flight Test Center at Edwards Air Force Base, and the Navy's Electronic Combat Range at China Lake, Calif.

The contract includes a three-month phase-in period, a one-year base period, four one-year options and possibly 10 one-year extensions.
