LogistiCare Inc. has won a two-year, $74 million contract to broker transportation services for Medicaid patients in parts of Virginia, the company said June 8.

Beginning July 2, LogistiCare of College Park, Ga., will provide contract management services, including administrative oversight, quality assurance and provider payment services, for three regions of the state. The company will receive requests for non-emergency transportation of Medicaid patients and determine the most appropriate level of service related to the request.

In essence, LogistiCare acts as a middleman to secure the most cost-effective transportation for Medicare patients needing rides to hospitals, doctors' offices and other health care related facilities.

LogistiCare has established a business office in Norfolk and a call center in Norton, Va., to support these operations. Norton is an independent city in Wise County.
Established in 1994, LogistiCare has evolved from a software solutions developer to a management outsourcing firm with non-emergency transportation services contracts in seven states and the District of Columbia.

DynCorp Management Resources Inc., a subsidiary of DynCorp of Reston, Va., announced May 23 that it won a two-year, $58 million contract to broker the same services for Virginia's other four regions.
