SRA International Inc. and Safeguard Scientifics Inc. have formed SRA Ventures LLC to commercialize and spin off new companies based on intellectual property SRA has developed.

Technology areas include business intelligence, wireless content management and intelligent messaging, bioinformatics and gene expression, intrusion detection and intelligent e-mail solutions.

Safeguard of Wayne, Pa., is a holding company that owns more than 40 ventures focused in software, communications and electronic services. It has investments in another 250 companies.

SRA of Fairfax, Va., provides systems integration, consulting and electronic business services, primarily to government customers.

The companies will own an equal share in SRA Ventures. Safeguard also will have first right of refusal to purchase any of the companies SRA Ventures launches.
