STG Wins $70 Million Telecom Contract With EPA

Under the five-year National Telecommunications Support Contract, the Fairfax, Va.-based STG will support EPA operations in Washington and regional offices in several states. The company will install, operate and maintain telecommunications systems, design networks, operate voice over IP services and support local area networks and computer systems.
The broad range of telecommunications services provided under the EPA contract "continues our current thrust in bringing advanced voice and video technology solutions to our clients," said Simon Lee, STG president and chief executive officer, in a March 27 statement.
The contract also calls for STG to operate the Federal Telecommunications Service business office, the National Video Technology Lab, the National Voice and FTS help desks, and the Voice/Video Technology and Engineering Center, which are located at EPA's National Communications Center, Research Triangle Park, N.C.
Founded in 1986, STG provides telecommunications and information technology services to industry and government. The 900-employee company has annual revenue approaching $100 million, said Phillip Foote, corporate executive vice president.
Federal customers of STG, which graduates this month from the government's 8(a) program for small minority and disadvantaged businesses, include the departments of State, Justice, Labor and Commerce and the Army, Navy and Air Force.
More than 90 percent of the systems integrator's business comes from the government, but the company has launched two new subsidiaries-eSTG Security Inc. and Information1st Inc.-aimed at increasing its private-sector business, Foote said.
