State Dept. Taps Orkand

Orkand Corp. of Falls Church, Va., won a five-year, $72 million contract from the State Department's Bureau of Consular Affairs to support and maintain installed systems, operate a centralized integration and repair facility and create and maintain documentation for the systems.

Orkand Corp. of Falls Church, Va., won a five-year, $72 million contract from the State Department's Bureau of Consular Affairs to support and maintain installed systems, operate a centralized integration and repair facility and create and maintain documentation for the systems.

The company also will install upgraded systems and train bureau and department employees.

The award is a recompete of a contract Orkand won in 1995. Since then, the company has done about $71 million of work for the State Department.

Orkand's teammates include Stanley Associates Inc. of Alexandria, Va., New Year Tech Inc. of Vienna, Va., and the University of Maryland, University College.
