SAIC Lands NASA Work

Science Applications International Corp. of San Diego won a five-year, $23 million contract to provide software independent verification and validation support for NASA's Goddard Software IV&V facility in Fairmont, W.Va.

IV&V is a systems engineering discipline that seeks to reduce risk in software programs. Approximately 70 percent of the work will be done in Fairmont. The rest will be conducted at SAIC facilities in Arlington, Va.

Awarded under the General Services Administration information technology schedule, the contract covers designated space science missions managed by the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Md. Several missions will receive IV&V support during 2001, including the Galaxy Evolution Explorer, which will probe the causes of star formation.
