L-3 Strengthens Gov't Offerings

L-3 Communications Inc., New York, has made its recent acquisition, Coleman Research Corp., a part of its MPRI division.

Combining Coleman and MPRI will strengthen L-3's offerings in areas such as governmental training and simulation, and services markets, officials said.

L-3 acquired Coleman Jan. 3 for $60 million from Thermo Electron Corp. of Waltham, Mass. Coleman provides services in areas such as communications and signal processing, intelligence and space instrumentation equipment, and simulation, training, modeling and exercise support to military customers. Coleman had about $100 million in 2000 revenue.

L-3 also acquired MPRI of Alexandria, Va., in July 2000. Terms of that deal were not disclosed.
