The Alaska Department of Public Safety's Division of Administrative Services is developing a request for proposals to hire a consultant on an as-needed, hourly basis to redesign the Alaska Public Safety Information Network. The RFP is expected in the first half of this year.

This is the department's second effort to procure services for this project. The first resulted in one proposal that was found nonresponsive. The department has now decided to use two procurements. The first is for an individual to provide general project management. The second will seek information technology consultation services to support the project manager.

The California Public-Safety Radio Integrated Systems Management will perform a pilot program before implementing a shared public-safety radio system. The RFP is expected this year.

Maryland, Virginia and the District of Columbia are developing a contract to build an integrated transportation and public-safety communications system called the Capital Wireless Integrated Network Demonstration Project. The RFP is expected in the first half of this year.

The focus of the project is to integrate the localities' transportation and public
