RSIS Lands Internal Revenue Service Contract

RS Information Systems Inc. won $3 million contract to provide project monitoring, tracking and reporting for the Internal Revenue Service's Information Services Enterprise Operations.

RS Information Systems Inc. of McLean, Va. won $3 million contract to provide project monitoring, tracking and reporting for the Internal Revenue Service's Information Services Enterprise Operations, the company announced Jan. 17.

The contract is a key component of a major overhaul of the IRS' information systems architecture, said RSIS officials.

RSIS will assist the agency in developing a comprehensive information technology service management program to be used to assess and manage the client's internal assets.

The service management program is one of the cornerstones of the agency's enterprise operations management information system, said officials.

The IRS operates many tax processing and administrative systems consisting of large mainframe computing systems and thousands of personal computers connected via an enterprise network of communication and file servers integrated with local- and wide-area networks.

As the IRS redesigns and upgrades these information processing systems through its modernization program, the IT service management program will play a critical role in capturing, reporting and assessing cost and performance data which can be weighed against a baseline modernization plan, company officials said.

To this end, the program will help senior managers responsible for the modernization make informed decisions.

Founded in 1992, RSIS provides technical and business solutions in information technology, science and engineering to government and commercial clients.
