AUG. 30-FedCenter.com formed an alliance Aug. 29 with the Department of Defense to link its Web sites to the Defense Department's Electronic Mall, thereby offering more choices to the department's EMall users.

FedCenter.com is a division of Digital Commerce Corp., Herndon, Va., which provides an online marketplace for federal government purchasing.

The alliance lets government purchasers browse through FedCenter.com's products and EMall electronic catalogs in order to compare products, prices, delivery terms and payment options. Defense customers can see more than 9.7 million computer and information technology items through FedCenter.com at the EMall.

"E-commerce has fundamentally changed the way private-sector vendors and public-sector buyers do business," said Tony Bansal, president and CEO of Digital Commerce. "There's a world of choice out there, and the FedCenter.com and DoD alliance is simply providing a bridge to it."

Linking the two sites will eliminate the process of identifying sources of supply through outdated vendor brochures and catalogs or calling vendors, Bansal said.
