AUG. 24 ? The town of Erie, Colo., awarded a contract to Systems Consultants Inc. of St. Louis to deliver a new financial management system, including software for general ledger, accounts payable and receivable, budget preparation and payroll. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.

"Several points convinced us to choose SCI," said Don Litton, manager for the town of Erie. "We liked the idea of training and implementation being provided by one source. We are also extremely comfortable with SCI's knowledge of government, having a strong history based solely in the public sector."

The implementation of SCI's software gives Erie its first complete financial information package, Litton added. The software will allow each of the town's departments to share information from a central database, eliminating the need for duplicate entry of customer information.

Another key factor in the town's decision was SCI's electronic government initiative, which allows constituents to inquire about their account information, pay bills and apply for licenses and permits using a web portal.

"It was important that our vendor include e-government as part of their offering," Litton said.

SCI offers state, county, local governments, public utilities and school districts browser-based financial, payroll and human resources and property management software and e-government services.
