CACI Adds Demographic Piece: CACI International Inc. of Arlington, Va., picked up Information Decision Systems, San Diego, in a $2.6 million cash deal in late August.

Information Decision Systems is a provider of demographic data over the Internet. The acquisition will aid CACI's demographics business, which caters to commercial customers in the retail, real estate and restaurant businesses as well as the Census Bureau.

Information Decision Systems had about $1.4 million in 1997 revenues. The company will become part of CACI's Marketing Systems Group, based in La Jolla, Calif.

Wang Opens Cisco Lab: Wang Global of Billerica, Mass., added what executives called a major building block for its networking business when the company opened a lab in McLean, Va., for training on Cisco products.

The lab will be used by employees training to become Certified Cisco Internetwork Experts, the highest certification level bestowed by Cisco Systems Inc. of San Jose, Calif.

"This is the heart of our commitment to Cisco, both for our commercial and federal people," said Jane Bradshaw, Wang vice president, Cisco Alliance and networking practices business worldwide. The company wants to certify 170 people by the end of 1999. The lab is Wang's only one dedicated to CCIE training in the Western Hemisphere.

Virage Nabs Lockheed Martin for Integration Partnership: Lockheed Martin Corp. of Bethesda, Md., is partnering with Virage Inc. of San Mateo, Calif., to take Virage's video cataloging and media analysis software into the government market. Lockheed Martin and Virage specifically want to target the military and intelligence markets.

"The U.S. government and the military intelligence community represent the world's largest and most sophisticated repositories of video and high-definition images," said Paul Lego, chief executive officer of Virage. Virage's products can provide real-time video publishing and distribution, video decision support and analysis, and media asset management.

CSC Forms Customer Relations Alliance: Computer Sciences Corp. of El Segundo, Calif., and Acuity Corp. of Austin, Texas, have struck an agreement to market each other's products and services.

Acuity, formerly ichat Inc., provides Web-based customer relationship management and e-commerce solutions.

The first joint project will be deploying an extranet for agents of AmerUs Life Insurance Co. of Des Moines, Iowa. CSC is looking to build better Web-based interactive solutions for customers, company officials said.
