Hitachi Data Systems, Cisco Form Alliance

Hitachi Data Systems, Santa Clara, Calif., and Cisco Systems Inc. of San Jose, Calif., formed an alliance in early April to work together on network connections with mainframe computer systems.

The alliance is aimed at the government market, where customers with large investments in mainframe applications are looking to leverage those investments on the Internet, said Steve West, president and chief executive of Hitachi.

The two companies will support joint customers and cooperate on sales and marketing efforts. Hitachi Data Systems will resell Cisco routers, interface processors and channel port adapter cards as well as other products.

Tech Data to Distribute Software for Czech Firm

Software602 Inc., one of the largest central European software makers, signed an agreement with Tech Data Corp. of Clearwater, Fla., to distribute its messaging software.

The company's messaging software allows simultaneous Internet access with firewall protection, secure Web server, Internet/local area network e-mail and encrypted data, fax and voice mail.

Software602 is based in Prague, Czech Republic, and has its U.S. headquarters in Jacksonville, Fla.

Language Software Maker Inks Distributor Deals

LearnWare, a Philadelphia-based developer of language learning software, signed agreements with Tech Data Corp. of Clearwater, Fla., and Channel Sources of Brookfield, Conn., to distribute its products.

"These new relationships with Tech Data and Channel Sources will ensure that the LearnWare System will be available to the widest possible audience," said William F. Marvin, LearnWare chairman. "We're proud to have these organizations as partners in our mission to become the software of choice in the language market."

Accrue Attacks Channel With Five Alliances

Accrue Software of Sunnyvale, Calif., has signed alliances with five systems integrators and Internet companies to expand distribution of its products nationwide. Accrue makes Web site analysis software.

Pacts were made with Basis Inc., a system integrator in Garden Grove, Calif.; CKS Group, a marketing communications and technology services company in Cupertino, Calif.; Free Range Media, a full-service interactive company in Seattle that creates Web sites; Servercast, a San Diego-based Web hosting provider specializing in server management and Internet application integration services; and Viant of Boston, which helps organizations develop and implement comprehensive digital business solutions.

"Our channel strategy is focused on building partnerships with solution providers that are revolutionizing commerce on the Internet," said Simon Roy, chief executive and president of Accrue Software. "Our goal is to provide customers a full-range solution including product, training, consulting and integration services."

InterlinkLaunches Reseller Program

Interlink Computer Sciences Inc. of Fremont, Calif., is starting a reseller program for its network security products.

The company has signed up four value-added resellers to distribute its data transmission security product, NetLock. The product complements firewalls and virtual private network products.

In addition to training, sales support material and leads, Interlink's reseller program includes cooperative marketing with sales kits, demos, brochures and World Wide Web support.
