The state of Alabama's Department of Human Resources in Montgomery hired American Management Systems of Montgomery to implement a statewide automated child welfare information system called the Alabama Social Service Information System. The contract is worth $13.8 million.

The state of Delaware's Administrative Office of the Courts, Judicial Information Center in New Castle hired Martha F. Dixon, Chadds Ford, Pa., to provide computer consulting services for business analysis and high-level design regarding the Automated Sentencing Order Project for several criminal courts in Delaware. The contract, awarded Nov. 4, is worth $56,608.

Montgomery County, Maryland's Montgomery Community College in Rockville outsourced the integration of its administrative information systems to SCT, Reston, Va. The contract is worth $5.02 million.

The Maryland Department of Human Resources, Social Services Administration in Baltimore signed a contract with KPMG Peat Marwick, Aberdeen, Md., to provide consulting services for the Statewide Child Welfare Information System project. The contract is worth $458,000.

The Minnesota Public Employees Retirement Division in St. Paul signed a contract with Imerge Consultants, Richmond, Va., for professional and technical services for the design and assessment of an electronic document management system. The contract, awarded Oct. 10, is worth $164,600.

The Missouri Department of Corrections in Jefferson City outsourced its hardware and services to Sprint, Gardner, Kan., for a pilot inmate videoconferencing system. The contract may be implemented free of charge.

The Oregon Department of Corrections in Salem outsourced its year 2000 remediation to SAIC, Beaverton, Ore., for detailed planning and implementation of the entire remediation project. The contract, awarded Oct. 10, is worth $400,000.

The Texas Department of Information Resources in Austin signed a contract with Spectrum Consulting of Austin to implement all necessary year 2000 changes. The contract, awarded on Oct. 31, will not exceed $219,000.
