An article [on page 40] in the Oct. 9 issue of Washington Technology, "Panasonic Partnership Boosts Federal Sales," is misleading and deserves clarification.

Panasonic is a fine company and has amassed an enviable record of sales through GTSI into the federal government: the facts are sufficient without giving them one of our successes.

For the record, GTSI won Army Portable II with Everex Systems Inc. equipment and the 1,000 units described in the article were of the Everex STEPNote 5 Pentium, running at 150MHz.

It obviously grates on us at Everex Systems Inc. that readers would draw the conclusion that Portable II is another Panasonic/GTSI contract win.

So, though the impression was given that Panasonic won Portable II with GTSI and sold 1,000 units in August, in fact Everex Systems Inc. was the vendor that teamed with GTSI for the win and it was their sales that were implied to Panasonic.
