TO A CORNER OFFICE

The University of Maryland Biotechnology Institute in College Park, Md., has named Dr. William S. Busch associate vice president for academic affairs. Busch will serve as director of the secretariat for VIRTUE, a collaborative virtual university education and research program between the university system of Maryland, Coteborg University in Sweden, and the University of Bergen in Norway.

Eastman Kodak Co.'s Commercial and Government Systems announced the appointment of program development director and vice president L. Charles Meeks Jr. to the National Space Club's Board of Governors.

Global Management Systems, Inc. in Washington announced the appointment of chairman and chief executive officer Hilton H. Augustine Jr. to the board of directors of the National Coalition of Minority Businesses.

Grant Thornton LLP in Vienna, Va., named Douglas K. Stevens Jr. partner in charge of the advanced technology and applications systems group. Stevens previously served as senior vice president and chief operating officer of Information Management Consultants Inc.

Government Micro Resources Inc., Manassas, Va., appointed Glen Passin chief financial officer.

Federal Sources Inc. in McLean, Va., announced the appointment of senior vice president John M. Kost to the GAO Executive Council on Information Management and Technology. Kost heads FSI's state and local division.

SenCom Corp. of Bedford, Mass., appointed Jack Stratford vice president and manager of Washington Operations. He was formerly a division manager with CACI.

AT&T, Basking Ridge, N.J., appointed Robert Lesko as managing partner for the company's global management consulting business. Previously, Lesko was the AT&T Solutions partner for the financial services industry.

GETTING A WINDOW

Boeing Information Services, Inc. in Vienna, Va., hired Andrea C. McCarthy as director of public relations. McCarthy was previously public affairs manager for the Fairfax County Chamber of Commerce.

Eagan, McAllister Associates Inc., Lexington Park, Md., has named Brad Ludwig regional director for EMA's Charleston, S.C. office. He will oversee and manage EMA's expanding Charleston business base, which now includes both government and commercial projects. Carrie McMillan will head EMA's new Corporate Data Resources Department, which consolidates document design/production, proposals, public affairs, editorial and reception/administrative functions.

Applix, Westboro, Mass., has hired two new sales executives to the government sales staff in Vienna, Va. Kurt Ladusky is a government sales executive for the federal market and Joseph E. Sabasteanski is a government sales executive for State and Local.

NEC Automated Fingerprint Identification Systems, based in Washington, D.C., appointed Jim Grasman director. A former Secret Service Agent in charge of the forensics lab, Grasman will oversee the administration of all NEC AFIS products.

EPI Systems, Rockville, Md., appointed Richard E. Gardella Jr. director of training.

Michael S. Snow has joined the Golder Associates office in Irvine, Calif., as manager of engineering services with responsibility for the geotechnical and waste management projects originating from that office.

Peter Neumann, a national authority on computer security and risk, was given the Norbert Wiener Award for excellence in promoting socially responsible use of computing technology. Computer Professionals for Social Responsibility annually honors an outstanding leader for personal dedication to increasing the public awareness of the social and political consequences of the uses of technology.
