|  | Acquisition Boosts New CACI Business Line:
CACI International Inc., Arlington, Va., plans to buy Government Systems Inc., a unit of Infonet Service Corp., as a way of increasing CACI's government communications business. Government Systems, based in Chantilly, Va., has about $40 million in revenues. Terms of the purchase were not released. The deal is expected to close in mid-October. GSI provides international communications and network-related services to the federal government. CACI also is entering into a partnership with Infonet, El Segundo, Calif., to develop cooperative business ventures. US West, Digital Target States:
US West Communications, Englewood, Colo., and Digital Equipment Corp., Maynard, Mass., have joined forces to electronically bring together state and local governments with contractors. Subscribers to US West's !nteract Procurement Services will be able to bid on state and local government and large business contracts. US West is providing the network while Digital will integrate the government and business customers' existing proprietary procurement networks with US West's network. SAIC, Microsoft in Pact :
Science Applications International Corp., San Diego, has agreed to provide Microsoft Corp., Redmond, Wash., with security evaluations for Windows NT. NT 4.0 is undergoing evaluation by the National Security Agency. SAIC also formed an alliance with Pinkerton Inc., Encino, Calif., to develop enterprisewide security solutions. Called Entersec, the alliance will offer experts and technologies to help identify and assess security risks, perform integrated security planning and design, and implement system security solutions. BDM Forms Year 2000 Alliances:
BDM International Inc., McLean, Va., has formed alliances with Software AG, Reston, Va., and David R. Black & Associates, Atlanta, to go after year 2000 problems. The teaming agreement with Software AG will target Fortune 1000 companies and government agencies. BDM brings its project management experience, year 2000 methodology and testing experience. Software AG will contribute technology, services and consultants, focusing on natural and COBOL computer codes. BDM signed a licensing agreement with David R. Black & Associates to use Black's Solve 2000 product for assessing COBOL code. - Nick Wakeman
