The General Services Administration's Federal Systems Integration and Management Center awarded SRA International Inc. of Arlington, Va., a task order contract with an estimated value of $1.1 million over three and one-half years. SRA will support information and data management systems for the Office of Mobile Sources at the Environmental Protection Agency. And SRA will maintain current computer and network systems and provide disaster recovery and contingency planning. NEC Technologies Inc. of Washington won a $10 million contract to upgrade the Illinois State Police to an Automated Fingerprint Identification System workflow process. The Illinois State Police database contains about 2.65 million fingerprint records. The upgraded system will allow 50 percent of searches to identify individuals within 30 minutes of fingerprint submission and allow electronic exchange of fingerprint images with the city of Chicago Police Department and the FBI.
Department of Defense SRA International Inc. of Arlington, Va., was awarded the Strategic Business Process Re-engineering contract by the Defense Supply Service-Washington. The multiple-award contract allows the Defense Department to outsource re-engineering work. This indefinite-delivery, indefinite quantity contract has one base year, four option years and is worth $200 million. Hughes Aircraft Co. in El Segundo, Calif., was awarded a $3.5 million increment as part of a $15.1 million engineering and manufacturing development contract for the U.S. Army's Long Range Advanced Scout Surveillance System. DRS Electronic Systems Inc., a subsidiary of DRS Technologies Inc. of Parsippany, N.J., was awarded a $1.3 million contract from the U.S. Navy to provide Radar Data Distribution Switchboards and support services for Navy land-based facilities. The Military Sealift Command awarded CACI International Inc. of Arlington, Va., a $34.9 million recompete contract to provide logistics support services for the MSC ship and shore sites worldwide. Services will include database management, administration, distribution, analysis and interface, as well as warehousing of parts and supplies. The contract is for one year with two option years.
Other Alcatel Data Networks and Alcatel Singapore Pte Ltd., both divisions of Alcatel Alsthom in Ashburn, Va., have been selected to provide the ATM edge and ATM backbone infrastructure for Singapore ONE, a national, high-capacity broadband network for Singapore's business and consumer populations. The $4.1 million contract was awarded by Singapore Communication Investments, Singapore Telecom and Singapore Cable Vision. Clarksburg, Md.-based Comsat Laboratories, a business unit of Comsat Corp., won a $14.4 million contract from Ericsson Ltd. Comsat will develop a high-penetration notification subsystem for ICO Global Communications Ltd. Constellation Communications Inc. in Reston, Va., selected Matra Marconi Space based in Paris as the prime contractor for the space segment of its low-earth orbit satellite system. Under the $600 million, three-year contract, Matra will develop the system's satellites and deliver them to the desired orbit around the earth. PDS of Blue Bell, Pa., was awarded a $900,000 contract with Albertson Inc., a U.S. retail food-drug chain. Under the contract, Albertson will use PDS' HRIS products for processing and managing of its human resources, payroll and benefits data. The Cellular Infrastructure Group of Motorola Inc. in Arlington Heights, Ill., won a contract worth more than $50 million from China's Shandong province. Motorola will expand the analog cellular Total Access Communications System in Shandong. MU-DEL Electronics Inc. in Reston, Va., won a $380,000 contract from ITT-Gilfillan of Van Nuys, Calif. Under the contract, the company will develop the Receiver/Frequency Generator used in the PAR-2000, a Precision-Approach Radar System. Elite Information Systems Inc. of Los Angeles won a $2.7 million contract from Eversheds Legal Services Ltd. in the United Kingdom. Elite will provide the law firm with its Elite Legal Billing System, Conflict of Interest, Workflow and Practice Development System software products. PDG Environmental Inc., Monroeville, Pa., received a contract for $350,000 to perform asbestos abatement services for multiple AT&T sites in 17 states throughout the eastern and southwestern United States. Telenor of Oslo, Norway, was awarded a contract worth $180 million to Hughes Space & Communications Corp. of El Segundo, Calif. Under the contract, Hughes will manufacture and launch the THOR 3 direct broadcasting satellite. Bethesda, Md.-based Lockheed Martin Corp. awarded a $55 million contract to Spar Aerospace Ltd. of Sainte-de-Bellevue, Quebec, for the procurement of products and services related to satellite communications and remote sensing systems. Microlog Corp. of Germantown, Md., won a $5 million contract from PTT Telecom Netherlands to distribute Microlog's Intela interactive communications platform within the Dutch voice processing market. Air France awarded LCI International Inc. of McLean, Va., a three-year contract to provide long distance services to the airline carrier's North American headquarters and U.S. operations. The contract is worth an estimated $2.5 million. The company also won a multiyear contract from Bluewater Communications of Miami. Under the $32 million contract, LCI will provide its long distance network to support Bluewater's prepaid calling cards.
