IBM and HP Team

IBM Corp., Armonk, N.Y., and Hewlett-Packard Co., Palo Alto, Calif., have formed a strategic alliance to develop and market a wide range of IBM software products on current and future HP platforms.

The companies are working together to ensure that users of the HP platforms continue to get multiple choices of high-performance IBM software as HP moves to the new 64-bit processor architecture it developed with Intel. HP expects this architecture will make its future 64-bit computers significantly faster and more powerful while keeping them compatible with today's systems.

IBM and HP will launch a marketing campaign that will include a combination of products, reseller education sessions and business partner programs.

The companies' goal is to help customers make the most of their investment in network computing by adapting the best technology from a variety of leading platforms.

Avid and Intel Form Alliance

Avid Technology Inc., Tewksbury, Mass., and Intel Corp., Santa Clara, Calif., have formed a strategic network alliance to support Avid's plans to offer video and audio editing products on Intel architecture.

Under terms of the agreement, Intel will purchase 1.5 million newly issued shares of Avid common stock for a total investment of $14.75 million.

Officials say the agreement supports Avid's overall strategy to provide digital content solutions for open environments. It also represents Avid and Intel's strategic commitment to supporting a wide range of digital media solutions for users of Intel-based computers.

Ernst and Young, Bluecurve Ink Pact

EYT will function as the integrator and reseller of this teaming effort.

The Dynameasure 1.5 family is the first active measurement and performance tool for Microsoft Windows NT Server-based networks.

This technology allows users to put a controlled stress on a system by instructing several PC clients to perform work using a Windows NT Server and determine what work was performed in a certain period of time.

SCO Joins Ingram Micro

SCO, Santa Cruz, Calif., a supplier of Unix server operating systems, together with Ingram Micro Inc., Santa Ana, Calif., announced an expansion of their ongoing relationship.

Under the agreement, Ingram Micro will distribute to federal, state and local government markets SCO's full range of Unix server, Internet and Windows-to-Unix connectivity products. All of the products support Internet computing.

Previously, the Ingram Micro-SCO relationship was focused primarily on commercial and special federal government market opportunities.

SCO officials say the company will leverage this standing relationship to enhance existing state and local government support through Ingram Micro's Partnership America.

Artemis in With Oracle

As a member of the CAI program, Artemis will offer close integration with Oracle Applications, providing project-oriented organizations with comprehensive schedule, cost and resource management capabilities.

The integration of Artemis' products with Oracle Applications, including Oracle Financials and Oracle Projects, will enable users to more closely integrate their project management solutions with other mission-critical corporate systems in a single Oracle database. Oracle is based in Redwood Shores, Calif.
