Systems Integration Group Inc., Lanham, Md., was awarded two contracts totaling $7.6 million from the Library of Congress. SIG will provide digital image capture, text conversion and SGML encoding services of original documents in support of the library's National Digital Library Program.

International Computers and Telecommunications Inc., Gaithersburg, Md., received a contract from the U.S. Department of Veteran's Affairs for communications systems support. The one year agreement has options for four additional years and cannot exceed $50 million.

Electronic Data Systems Corp., Plano, Texas, was awarded a $42 million contract to help the U.S. Postal Service manage and monitor its computer technology.

Orbital Sciences Corp., Dulles, Va., was awarded an $18.9 million contract by the Republic of China for mission planning and data transfer systems products.

Hughes STX Corp., Lanham, Md., was awarded a contract valued at $100 million for operation of the U.S. Geological Survey's EROS Data Center, Sioux Falls, S.D.

Rockwell International Corp., Richardson, Texas, received a $6.6 million contract to provide an information distribution system for German Marines from Bundesamt fur Wehrtechnik und Beschaffung, Koblenz, Germany.

SRA International Inc., Arlington, Va., was awarded a $6.9 million delivery order to support the federal parent locator system for the Department of Health and Human Services.

Department of Defense

CDSI Information Technology Solutions Co., Rockville, Md., was awarded a subcontract by Chugach Development Corp., Anchorage, Alaska. The four-year, $59.4 million contract through CDC is to provide automated information services to Department of Defense agencies.

R&R International Inc., Baltimore, was awarded a five-year, $50 million Saber contract by the U.S. Air Force for construction, renovation and repair work at McGuire Air Force Base, Trenton, N.J.

Advanced Refractory Technologies Inc., Buffalo, New York, was awarded a Phase I SBIR contract by the U.S. Air Force to provide neural networks.

Computer Sciences Corp., El Segundo, Calif., was awarded a $136 million task-order contract to support the U.S. Air Force Space and Missile Systems Center sounding rocket program.

Other

Alcatel Telecom Inc., Richardson, Texas, signed a $50 million contract with IXC Communications Inc., Austin, Texas, to provide and install advanced SONET gear. The equipment will link an advanced fiber optic network from Fort Worth, Texas, to Los Angeles.

Kistler Aerospace Corp., Los Angeles, signed contract in excess of $100 million with Space Systems/Loral Corp., New York. The agreement is for 10 launches of communications satellites.

MCI Communications Corp., Washington, signed a $200 million purchase agreement with Nortel Corp., Dallas. MCI will receive high-capacity transmission equipment for deployment in the U.S.

Pocket Communications Inc., Washington, signed an agreement with Mitsubishi Wireless Communications Inc., Braselton, Ga. for personal communications systems wireless phones.
