New EDS Group Branches Out: Electronic Data Systems Corp., Plano, Texas, is stepping up its marketing efforts behind the integrator's Internet and New Media group. The newly branded organization was formed more than six months before the integrator's split from parent General Motors Corp., but was kept under wraps as the company worked to consolidate its Internet talent into a single group. Today, the group boasts 250 employees and is reportedly working with 85 corporations.

CSC Executive's Departure No Surprise: The recent departure of James Champy from Computer Sciences Corp., El Segundo, Calif., was in the works for more than six months, according to certain CSC executives. Champy, head of the integrator's management consulting arm known as CSC Index, is now heading a new management consulting group at Perot Systems Corp., Dallas. Champy, co-author of Re-engineering The Corporation, is credited with helping raise the profile of CSC inside the commercial market.

SAIC Maintains Non-Partisan Position: Having successfully deployed several solutions at the Republican National Convention, Scientific Applications International Corp., El Segundo, Calif., is taking a decidedly low-key approach to marketing the convention as a solution-selling success story. The integrator's management doesn't want its involvement to be construed as an endorsement of any one political party's candidate or platform, SAIC sources said.

Inacom Announces Roll Call: Hoping to play a larger role in the commercial outsourcing market, Inacom Corp., Omaha, Neb., has begun offering an infotech asset management service it calls Asset Roll Call. As part of its new service, the integrator publishes a graphical report outlining the assets of a customer's enterprise network. The report lists the number and type of processors, distribution memory, processor speed and operating systems.
