Celebrating Partnerships Among Friends

Just recently, a small group of professionals, businessmen and women, and professors from some of North America's best schools met in Washington, D.C., to judge the winner of the first Award for Canadian-American Business Achievement. We can't tell you who won - you'll find out in June. But we can tell you this is an award to pay attention to.

The Embassy of Canada, Canadian-American Business Council and others would like to see this award - surprisingly, the first of its kind - take on the stature of a Baldrige or some other like recognition of business achievement (but, of course, with its own identity.)

In light of the recent maturation of Canada's high-tech

industry; the success it's had

in global telecom and in attracting companies such as Microsoft to the Waterloo-Kitchener

area for, among other things, HTML recruits; the relationships Canadian and American companies have built here in Washington; and the deep importance of the trade relationship that has grown between the two countries, we think the award merits serious thought and consideration. The award is given to two companies, one Canadian and one American, who have demonstrated a successful business partnership. (There's obviously more to it than that, but space constrains us.)

We think the award deserves some support and recognition from business leaders here. For more information about the award, how to enter, and sponsorship information, call Ellen Maidman at the Canadian-American Business Council, (202) 363-1487.
