Find opportunities — and win them.

VTG, the company formerly known as VT Group, adds nearly three-decade market veteran and former KeyW business and corporate development head Kirk Herdman.

VTG, the defense technical services company formerly known as VT Group, has hired nearly three-decade market veteran Kirk Herdman as a business segment president.

Herdman will lead the company’s national security solutions segment and be responsible for expanding its footprint with defense and intelligence agencies, VTG said Thursday. He also becomes a member of VTG’s board of directors.

Most recently, Herdman was executive vice president for business and corporate development at KeyW Corp. and helped lead that company through its sale to Jacobs in 2019.

He joined KeyW in 2017 in the wake of its acquisition of Sotera Defense Solutions, where he held roles such as chief strategy officer and senior vice president for business development and operations. Herdman helped lead Sotera through its initial public offering in 2009, sale to private equity firm Ares Management in 2011 and four acquisitions along the way before the KeyW transaction.

His career also includes roles at General Dynamics, the former Verdian Corp. that GD acquired in 2003, the former Wyle Information Systems and ManTech.
