Booz Allen to extend CMS marketplace integration work

Booz Allen Hamilton will continue its role as lead systems integrator for the marketplace that individuals and businesses use to buy private health insurance.
Booz Allen Hamilton has received a new potential five-year, $194.1 million task order to continue its role as lead system integrator for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services’ health insurance marketplace.
CMS issued the order through its SPARC vehicle and signed off on the new award Thursday for one base year and four option years afterward, according to Federal Procurement Data System information. The agency received no other bids for this new iteration of the Marketplace System Integrator effort.
First awarded the work in 2015, Booz Allen is responsible for coordinating the technical and governance aspects of the marketplace that is the cornerstone of the 2010 Affordable Care Act and structured as a complex “systems of systems.” Both the federally-facilitated and state-based markets began operations in 2013 for individuals and small businesses to buy private health insurance.
Booz Allen will work with CMS to deliver new functions and changes to the existing technology, plus implement new processes and procedures to support the evolution and operations of all marketplace systems.
The original contract had a ceiling value of $202 million and was slated to expire in July of this year.
