Coast Guard planning cloud transition contract

The Coast Guard’s intelligence branch is developing a contract vehicle so it can purchase a variety of services that will help it transition work to the cloud.

The Coast Guard says in a new sources sought notice that its Office Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance is “rapidly transitioning its IT infrastructure to a cloud environment. This new contract will cover services needed for that transition along with the modernization of business and cybersecurity processes.

Among the services the Coast Guard wants to procure are:

• Cloud data management
• Change management
• Strategic communications
• Strategic planning
• Business transformation

The shift to the cloud aims to help the intelligence branch support the Coast Guard’s efforts to rapidly obtain and deploy emerging technologies. The goal is maintain information superiority in the face of emerging cyber warfare threats.

The Coast Guard expects to make an award by March 31. Comments on the RFI are due Dec. 20.

The contract is expected to be for five years and it appears from the notice that it will be a single-award contract.
