Alion books $969M ISR support order

Alion Science and Technology has reported a potential five-year, $969 million task order award to the company for logistics support and other services to support U.S. combatant commands in the area of intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance.

The order was awarded through the General Services Administration’s OASIS contract vehicle for professional services to federal agencies, through which Alion is a prime on the Unrestricted Pool 1 portion.

Work will take place over one base year and up to four individual option years, Alion said Tuesday. A post in the Federal Procurement Data System indicates this order covers the Africa area of responsibility and that Alion was the lone bidder.

McLean, Virginia-based Alion will design and develop concept demonstrators, come up with concepts and procedures, and analyze future system capabilities in C4ISR -- command, control, communications, computers, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance<.

Alion will provide systems integration and airborne operations services in support of both manned and unmanned missions.

This year has been one of major change for Alion, which divested its naval systems unit that was once that company’s core business to a new owner in Serco Inc.

That transaction involved nearly one-third of Alion’s revenue but was intended to give it more focused scale that was gained through last year’s acquisition of defense technology integrator MacAulay-Brown.
