IBM awarded $275M DOD semiconductor security contract

IBM has been awarded a $275 million contract by the Defense Microelectronics Activity to help create a trusted supply chain focused on the security of semiconductor technologies.

Big Blue and DEMA will work to create manufacturing flows inside fabrication facilities that can deliver both classified and unclassified but trusted products through an open commercial environment, the Defense Department said in its Tuesday awards digest.

This contract supports the Trusted Foundry Access II program to further secure commercial environments and help federal agencies access advanced technology manufacturing capabilities.

Additional services will include subject matter expertise and consulting to assess and propose additional tasks. IBM will also help DEMA evaluate accreditations of new facilities, systems tools and processes to further the agency's strategic goals.
