Envistacom eyes waveform growth in Fast Fit acquisition

Defense communications company Envistacom has acquired Fast Fit Technologies, a provider of virtualized waveforms and data analytics offerings.

Envistacom sought to add more intellectual property through the transaction in an effort to position for network modernization and integration opportunities with the Defense Department, according to a company release.

Fast Fit Technologies holds waveform virtualization contracts with the Army, Navy and other defense agencies. The company also concentrates on using open source frameworks and methods in an effort to make waveforms and other applications available to customers in a library-type format.

“With the emergence of high capacity satellite (HCS) and low Earth orbit (LEO) networks, proprietary waveforms are often developed to optimize the performance of those networks. These unique systems have traditionally required purpose-built and often proprietary modem hardware,” Michael Geist, Envistacom vice president of technology and strategy, said in a release

"Virtualization will allow users who require network flexibility and resiliency to benefit from the ability to operate across networks, satellites and constellations without being limited by any single ecosystem.”

Frederick, Maryland-based Fast Fit also works with customers to house the applications in a private data center or in a public cloud infrastructure.
