Cloud security firm Fugue gets backing from IC investor In-Q-Tel

Cloud security outfit Fugue has received an investment from the intelligence community’s venture capital arm In-Q-Tel in order to further bring automation tools into the national security community.
Frederick, Maryland-based Fugue will work with IQT to help agencies secure their cloud infrastructures through this partnership, Fugue CEO Phillip Merrick said in a release Thursday.
“Security technologies designed for data center infrastructure have not kept up with the dynamic and scalable nature of cloud,” said Mike Ferrari, principal for investments at In-Q-Tel.
Fugue designed its tool to automate security and compliance functions for cloud environments. The goal is to cut down on possible incorrect configurations of vulnerabilities without involving humans, as well as return unauthorized changes to what is determined as a standard baseline.
Started in 1999, In-Q-Tel is a nonprofit organization that partners with and makes investments in companies to further develop new technologies for potential usage in national security missions. In-Q-Tel works to identify and adapt the technologies for application across the intelligence community.
