Army taps 10 for $192M rapid tech prototyping contract

The Army chooses 10 firms for a $192 million contract to help the Army in the rapid acquisition of materials for prototyping new technologies.
Ten companies have won positions on a three-year, $192 million contract to help the Army in the rapid acquisition of materials for prototyping new technologies.
The Army received 13 bids for the contract and its period of performance is through July 22, 2021, the Defense Department said in its Tuesday awards digest.
Winners are:
- BANC 3
- Barbaricum
- Dynamis
- FiberTek
- Intiutive Research and Technology
- MicroTechnologies
- Middle Bay Solutions II
- Manufacturing Techniques
- Polaris Alpha (acquired by Parsons Corp. in May)
- Trideum
This is a brand new requirement issued by the Army's Communication Electronics Research, Development and Engineering Center to more quickly build and field specialized sensors and equipment, according to Deltek data.
Key technology areas covered under the contract include surveillance systems, improvised explosive device and mine detection, target acquisition, force protection, neutralization systems, hyper- and multi-spectral detection systems, and human signature exploitation.
