Leidos scores $364M Energy research takeaway

Leidos has won a potential 10-year, $364.7 million contract to provide research and engineering services to one of the Energy Department’s lead applied research organizations.

The contract covers an initial three-year base period of performance, followed by a pair of two-year options and an additional three-year option. DOE disclosed the award Monday in a FedBizOpps notice.

DOE received one other bid for the "Research Support Services" contract. AECOM holds the incumbent contract called "Research and Engineering Services for NETL" that is due to expire on Dec. 30, according to information from Deltek and the Federal Procurement Data System that both track contracting obligations.

AECOM has performed the work October 2009.

This effort backs the National Energy Technology Laboratory, a national lab that focuses on clean production and use of domestic energy resources.

NETL performs research-and-development work in production of domestic coal, oil and natural gas in support of the department’s larger energy independence and environmental protection goals.
