ASRC Federal arm takes $1.2B NASA computing contract

A subsidiary of ASRC Federal has won a potential 10-year, $1.2 billion contract to help NASA operate high-performance computing systems for the agency’s Ames Research Center and other hubs.

The period of performance for ASRC's InuTeq subsidiary starts July 1 with a one-year base that is followed by nine one-year options, NASA said Thursday. The contract also includes a phase-in period that is worth $111.6 million.

Ames Research Center is based in Silicon Valley and houses research-and-development work in aeronautics, exploration technology, science and IT.

Pending any protests, this would be a large takeaway win for ASRC Federal from incumbent contractor CSRA, which was acquired by General Dynamics in April. CSRA performs the work under a pair of contracts with a combined ceiling of $690.5 million.

NASA consolidated both contracts for this recompete. Those current contracts expire in July and August of this year.

The contract also supports NASA’s Center for Climate Simulation at the Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland.
