U.S. Special Operations Command has unveiled plans to modernize its IT infrastructure in an effort to generate visual databases.
In a new request for information, USSOCOM is asking for industry insights to accelerate the processing, exploitation and dissemination of geospecific three-dimensional visual, sensor multi-spectral and artificial intelligence-enabled synthetic data.
Geospatial information in data repositories support interoperable Special Operations Forces mission operations and virtual missions rehearsal, such as simulations, joint exercises and gaming. The data also helps with military decision-making process, analysis, and experimentation at strategic, operational and tactical levels.
USSOCOM specifically wants information on cloud migration, network infrastructure, hardware, software and algorithmic development and optimization.
Information the command receives will be compiled for a business case analysis to compare the costs of operating the legacy environment versus benefits of infrastructure modernization that enhance capabilities such as advanced computing, AI, cybersecurity and other technologies.
USSOCOM released its RFI March 26. Responses are due by April 26.
