Fulcrum buys PTR to expand R&D, intell work

Fulcrum IT Services acquires The PTR Group to grow research-and-development work and services to intelligence agencies.

Fulcrum IT Services has acquired technology and engineering services provider The PTR Group in a move to add additional footprints in research-and-development work and a presence across intelligence agencies.

Terms of the transaction were undisclosed. Centreville, Virginia-based Fulcrum said Wednesday the deal extends its footprint with agencies such as NASA, the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency and Naval Research Laboratory.

PTR Group’s services include cyber operations and research, satellite and robotic control software engineering, and embedded development.

Ashburn, Virginia-based PTR was founded in 2002 and is an employee-owned company.

Investment bank Teneo Group was PTR's financial adviser for the transaction.
