Anne Altman to chair Siemens' US federal board

Former IBM Federal business leader Anne Altman has been appointed chairman of the board of directors at Siemens Government Technologies -- the industrial conglomerate’s U.S. federal subsidiary.

Arlington, Va.-based SGT said Thursday Altman succeeds outgoing board chairman Stanley McChrystal, the retired Army general who had held the chairman role since the subsidiary’s 2011 launch.

The board’s external members with Altman as chair are retired Army Lt. Gen. John Sylvester and Bob Coutts, a retired executive vice president from Lockheed Martin. Internal members are Barbara Humpton, president and CEO of SGT; Ralf Christian, CEO of parent Siemens AG’s energy management division; and Axel Meier, chief financial officer of the parent’s building technologies division.

Altman retired from IBM in 2016 after 35 years at Big Blue that included roles such as general manager of U.S. federal and government industries, GM for the global public sector and managing director for U.S. federal.

She received the 2005 Eagle Award from Washington Technology’s sister publication FCW in recognition of her long career in the federal market. Altman is also on the board of directors at companies such as Maximus, SPX Flow and TechFlow.
