NASA picks five for $199M in IT support contracts

NASA chooses five companies for contracts worth up to $199.3 million combined for IT software development and system support services at the agency's Johnson hub in Houston.
NASA has awarded five companies contracts worth up to $199.3 million combined over five years for IT software development and support services at the agency's Johnson Space Center in Houston.
The Joint Operations and Integrated Systems Technology contracts are broken out into three baseline segment areas of work, all of which will start in October.
All five JOIST awardees will particpate in the segment for research-and-development work on IT the agency deems as "specialized, highly-specialized and advanced." Those awardees include Booz Allen Hamilton, Science Applications International Corp., Cimarron Software Services, Rothe Development and Tietronix Software.
JOIST's R&D portion calls on contractors to design, develop, test, integrate and deliver both new technologies and customized software, according to Deltek. That contract area is a multiple-award, indefinite-delivery indefinite-quantity segment with an ordering period through September 2022.
"Baseline A" of the contract went to SAIC with a $25.6 million ceiling value for IT and support services to a software suite NASA uses to carry out aircraft flight operations.
"Baseline B" was awarded to San Antonio-based small business Rothe Development with a $38.7 million ceiling value for support of the flight operations directorate's IT system and legacy components.
