December IT job growth slowest of 2016

Information technology jobs saw the slowest rate of growth of 2016, according to a report from TechServe Alliance.

For the month of December, the uptick in IT-related jobs was 0.1 percent, with the number of jobs reaching 5.179 million. On a year-over-year basis, the report said, IT job growth is up by 2.4 percent from December 2015, or 122,900 IT workers.

Engineering job growth also continued in December, but only barely, growing by 0.02 percent, bringing the total number of jobs to 2.543 million. On a year-over-year basis, this number is up 0.7 percent from December 2015, or 20,500 engineers.
