GSA gathers input on secured message delivery platform

The General Services Administration wants to create a simple, secure shared authentication platform for message delivery.

GSA released a new request for information to gather technical capabilities, pricing methodologies, and industry’s readiness for building a such a platform. It also wants to explore how to partner with industry for  multi-factor authentication.

In the RFI, GSA has asked companies about the types of messaging platforms they use, the range of the geographic coverage, and if they are able to identify whether a phone number is of a particular type, such as a cell phone, landline, or voice over Internet Protocol. In addition, GSA wants to know how companies tie the delivery of a message with one-time password to a physical device.

GSA released the RFI Oct. 13. Responses are due by Oct. 17.
