Air Force seeks support for data mining project

The Air Force released a draft solicitation for a five-year, $3.5 million contract for data mining, capture and access services to support the U.S. Strategic Command and other commands for decision support capabilities.

The contract is set aside for small businesses.

The contract will support the Air Force’s the Global Awareness Presentation Service (GAPS) program. GAPS was created for visually fused situational awareness display presentation services with the aim to support Non-secure Internet Protocol Router Network (NIPR), Secure Internet Protocol Router Network (SIPR), Joint Worldwide Intelligence Communications System (JWICS) and closed net network centric operations.

The company will help GAPS with:

• Geospatial viewers, such as Google Earth
• User defined operational pictures (UDOPs) or common operating pictures (COPs)
• Collaboration environments for deliberate and crisis action planning
• Briefing dashboards for situational awareness
• Other dashboards for both internal and external stakeholders to use

Work will also include defining one or more messaging structures that allow information to be passed between selected UDOPs and data sources via web-based browsers, providing continued systems engineering support, offering estimates for cost, timeliness, and resource impacts, and a recommended test and implementation plan for future activities.

The Air Force released the draft solicitation Oct. 7. Responses are due by Oct. 14.
