Defense commissary looks for encryption solution

The Defense Commissary Agency is looking for a solution for an enterprise encryption and key management solution (EEKMS), based on a new request for information.

DeCA does not currently possess an EEKMS, but it currently uses inherent encryption capabilities of its databases. Now, DeCA wants a solution that encompasses both the encryption of data as well as remote key management. A new solution must be able to encrypt and decrypt data and manage the keys in a remote location. As another option, a solution could provide only remote key management if it has its own encryption.

DeCA’s EEKMS supports operating systems like Windows and Linux, and the databases such as Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, Oracle MySQL, and Teradata.

DeCA is conducting market research, but an acquisition is possible. If DeCA takes it beyond marketing, it would take place in fiscal year 2017.

DeCA released its RFI Aug. 23. Responses are due by Aug. 30.
