Intelligent Decisions sells intell businesses

Intelligent Decisions has decided to shed two business units in the intelligence and counterintelligence markets and sell them to FedData, a Linthicum, Md.-based government contractor.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed. FedData picks up more capabilities in cybersecurity, specifically in the areas of technical counterintelligence, insider threat reduction, and cryptography.

FedData also is adding to its presence among Maryland-based intelligence customers.

“This acquisition launches our platform of companies and extends FedData’s reach into the private sector and the intelligence community,” said Jamie Benoit, president of FedData.

Benoit said the people coming over from Intelligence Decisions are “a world-class team of professionals with unequal knowledge of the intelligence community’s IT architecture and its unique needs.”

As part of the acquisition, FedData announced several leadership changes.

Daniel Batelka will lead FedData’s defense business. He has been vice president of operations at FedData since 2013.

Daniel Gilliam will lead the intelligence practice. He has been a vice president for intelligence solutions since 2010.

Lonny Anderson has been hired to lead FedData’s counterintelligence business. Anderson recently retired from the National Security Agency. He spent 21 years in the Army and 14 years at the NSA Central Security Service. Among his NSA positions was deputy director of signals intelligence and technology director of the National Security Operations Center.
