FAA plans IDIQ for security operations info tracking, analysis

The Federal Aviation Administration issued a notice for support for an operation center that monitors and tracks information on security incidents as well as other analyses.

Under the contract, the company will assist the FAA in maintaining an operations center to protect the Transportation Department’s and the FAA’s information technology infrastructure. The always-on operations center is responsible for monitoring, detecting, and tracking information on security incidents. It conducts sensor data analysis and provides proactive and responsive corrective actions.

In addition, under the contract, the FAA wants a detailed assessment of the defense posture of the FAA network environment and recommendations for improvements. Work will include maintaining existing hardware platforms and software applications. Furthermore, the FAA is seeking expertise in situational awareness and getting an up-to-date snapshot of cyber events that are on-going cyber security world.

The FAA plans to award a five-year, indefinite-delivery indefinite-quantity contract that includes time and materials and labor hour provisions. The FAA will host a best value competition, using trade-off procedures.

The FAA released its sources sought notice April 8. Responses are due by May 10.
