DISA releases RFP for $75M tactical data system modernization

The Defense Information Systems Administration issued its formal solicitation for a five-year contract to modernize its Advanced Field Artillery Tactical Data System.
DISA wants to update the AFATDS' underlying architecture and redesign the front-end to a fully web and role-based interface. Further, the scope of the contract includes integration of available common services made available through the Army’s Common Operating Environment (COE). It also includes the incorporation of advanced embedded training technologies.
Deltek estimates the value of the contract at $75 million. Raytheon is the incumbent.
The AFATDS is a multi-service, automated command, coordination, communication, and computing system. It provides automated fire support and coordination to all echelons of the military.
The modernization effort includes system architecture design and analysis, system software interface support, design and system engineering and system integration. This effort includes software design and development, programmatic, engineering, testing, training, and integration for the implementation of the AFATDS.
DISA released the request for proposals March 10. Responses are due by April 8.
