DHS seeks open sources, social media analytics solutions

The Homeland Security Department is looking for solutions offering open source and social media analytics capabilities.

Because analytics may help in some mission areas, DHS wants the solutions to have privacy features, analytic architecture, computing, storage, language, analytics, and visualization capabilities.

The DHS Science and Technology Directorate and the DHS Social Media Task Force want to enhance homeland security missions and operations through the analytics. The capabilities can aid with criminal investigations, screenings and vetting of individuals and organizations traveling or seeking government benefits. Analytics can also help with situational awareness, and public affairs and outreach.

DHS also wants information from industry to help identify operations to improve mission and achieve operational efficiency. Officials also expect the advanced analytic automation to decrease costs for DHS and the Homeland Security Enterprise.

DHS released a request for information Jan. 25. Responses are due by Feb. 9.
